AP installer measuring and positioning vehicle graphics

The AP Way

The AP Way Builds the Standard Behind the Work.

From the first site survey to the final walkthrough documentation, AP follows the same installation standard on every project. Here is what that looks like — and why it matters to your client.

TrainingCraftConductLeadershipClient Care

The standard behind the crew

AP's standard has to show up in the person doing the work, not just in a process document. That is why technical training, site preparation, communication, conduct, documentation, and leadership are developed together.

For clients and print partners, the result is simple: the crew understands the material, the site, the schedule, and the relationship AP is trusted to protect.

Craft and conduct are trained together

Surface prep and panel alignment matter. So do punctuality, clean work areas, clear updates, and knowing how to represent a partner in front of their client.

Growth has a defined path

Installers can grow from core skills into lead work, specialty categories, project operations, training, sales support, or market leadership.

Five Technical Levels

Five Technical Levels. One AP Standard.

Entry point depends on proven experience, but AP still validates conduct, documentation, communication, field hours, technical skill, and readiness to carry more responsibility.

T1

Foundation, Conduct & Core Skills

T1 builds safety, prep, conduct, communication, and the work habits required on every AP jobsite.

Technical

  • Introduction to vinyl types, substrates, and graphic materials
  • Basic surface cleaning and preparation techniques
  • Tool familiarization: squeegees, heat guns, blades, tape
  • Wet and dry application techniques

Professional

  • Professional appearance and uniform standards
  • Job site conduct and communication expectations
  • Punctuality, reliability, and basic accountability
  • How to interact respectfully with clients and store personnel
T2

Defined Installs & Technical Proficiency

T2 turns the foundation into controlled, independent execution across defined install categories and harder substrates.

Technical

  • Window film and perforated vinyl installation
  • Floor graphics and challenging surface applications
  • 3M material handling and care standards
  • Introduction to fleet and transit surface prep

Professional

  • Written project updates and on-site documentation
  • Communicating site issues clearly to the project lead
  • Goal setting and personal performance review
  • Customer interaction fundamentals
T3

Installation Fluency & Branch Readiness

T3 is where installers become fluent enough to branch toward lead work, project operations, sales support, or market growth.

Technical

  • Progress toward 3M certification pathway
  • Introduction to 3M DI-NOC architectural finishes
  • Seam work, panel sequencing, and alignment on large installs
  • Fleet and transit graphic installation

Professional

  • Supporting and guiding junior crew members on-site
  • Introduction to on-site leadership responsibilities
  • Direct client and property manager awareness
  • Appearance and conduct standards at higher-visibility sites
T4

Lead, Specialty & Business Direction

T4 develops the direction a person is proving into: lead installer, specialty work, project operations, sales, training, or market support.

Technical

  • Full 3M certification completion: walls, windows, floors, fleet
  • PDAA Certified Installer designation
  • Specialty installs: SEG frames, ceiling hangs, dimensional elements
  • Scope planning and pre-installation review process

Professional

  • Crew leadership and on-site direction
  • Direct communication with print partners, agencies, and clients
  • Scope planning and project value awareness on active jobs
  • Accountability for crew performance and overall project outcome
T5

Master Installer & Full AP Standard

T5 represents the full AP standard: install, train, lead, communicate, manage, sell, and understand the business behind the work.

Technical

  • Mastery across all surface categories and installation types
  • Quality control ownership and final walkthrough responsibility
  • Crew training, technical mentorship, and skill assessment
  • Process documentation and installation standard ownership

Professional

  • Account management and client relationship stewardship
  • Sales awareness and project opportunity identification
  • Project fluency: reading scope and site conditions for risk before they become problems
  • Regional crew development and market leadership

Growth path

Installation Fluency Creates More Directions.

T1 builds the habits every jobsite requires. By T3, an installer has enough field fluency to branch without losing the practical understanding AP expects behind every role.

Lead & specialty work

Own crew direction, difficult substrates, specialty categories, quality checks, and final walkthroughs.

Project operations

Use field knowledge to improve scoping, access planning, scheduling, crew communication, and closeout.

Sales & market growth

Support estimates and client conversations with a real understanding of site conditions, labor, risk, and the AP standard.

From First Call to Final Walkthrough. Every Step.

AP manages every installation through eight defined phases. This is the process that makes large format installation predictable.

01

Site Survey & Scope Review

Every project starts with a review of site conditions, measurements, access constraints, substrate types, and material specs. AP confirms the scope before anything is scheduled — not during the install.

02

Production Handoff

AP coordinates directly with your print partner to confirm delivery timing, material specifications, and any surface-specific requirements. No surprises on install day from mismatched specs or late production.

03

Scheduling & Access Planning

Install day access, crew arrival windows, property management contacts, and work window parameters are confirmed and documented in advance. Your team knows exactly what to expect.

04

Surface Preparation

Proper surface preparation is the difference between a graphic that lasts and one that fails. AP follows certified preparation protocols for every substrate — glass, painted drywall, vehicle panels, textured surfaces, and more.

05

On-Site Installation

Certified crews execute the installation with attention to seam placement, panel alignment, bubble-free adhesion, and edge quality. Every surface gets the same AP standard regardless of size or visibility.

06

Quality Walkthrough

Before leaving the site, AP conducts a systematic review of every surface: alignment, seams, edges, corners, and overall finish quality checked against the approved scope.

07

Documentation & Closeout

Completion photos, punch-list items, and any relevant site notes are documented and delivered to your team. You have a clear record of what was installed, where, and how.

08

Follow-Up Support

If a punch-list item surfaces after closeout or a site condition requires attention, AP follows through. The project is not closed until everyone is satisfied with the result.

What AP Manages On Your Behalf.

Beyond the physical install, AP manages the details that protect your project, your schedule, and your client relationship.

Rework prevention

Measurement verification, substrate review, and scope confirmation happen before installation begins — not after a costly mistake is discovered.

Active job site management

AP works cleanly and professionally inside open stores, occupied offices, and active facilities without disrupting customers, employees, or operations.

Partner communication

Print shop contacts, agency project managers, and brand teams receive clear updates on timing, access, scope changes, and completion status.

Surface issue escalation

If substrate conditions, access problems, or scope gaps are discovered on site, AP escalates the right way — to you, not around you.

Timing and access coordination

Install windows, security contacts, elevator reservations, and overnight access schedules are confirmed and managed by AP before crew arrives.

Closeout and follow-through

Every project closes with documentation. If a punch-list item surfaces after completion, AP follows through without requiring another project kickoff.

Proof Behind The Promise.

The AP Way is backed by real installation experience, national project work, connected production support, and a documented standard for developing installers who can grow into more responsibility.

Installation experience

Decades of graphics, fleet, retail, and environmental installation experience shape the standards AP teaches and expects on every project.

Production awareness

AP understands print, materials, deadlines, and site conditions, so the install is planned around the full project, not just the final surface.

Crew accountability

Every crew works inside the same expectations for conduct, documentation, communication, and finish quality.
